If the discs/drums are off and you protect the bearings from dust and grit if
still fitted, sanding or power wire brush will give immediate good braking and
keep the linings free of rust dust.

If it's just a light layer, it won't do any harm, but expect indifferent braking
for the first few applications.

In the light of discussions about who to send replies to, why did my reply
button try to send this direct to Steven rather than the list?  I know it's
Steven's reply I've responded to, but it usually puts To as type3 list.
