(I don't if a friend's trailer will be available.) The dolly is less expensive than the transporter, but I haven't towed an ACVW for more than 15 miles front wheels down, and that was in-town, 45 mph. I am thinking it would be safer to spend the extra $$ and get the transporter unless anyone here can recommend the dolly and any tips you used to tow successfully. > I towed my '66 about 150 miles on a dolly. Only problem I had, was that I didn't check the rear lug bolts before I took off. Got about 1/2 mile down the road, and lost a rear wheel. CHECK THE LUG BOLTS!!!! Take a small floor jack with you and a 4 way lug wrench. Also a basic set of hand tools. Towing a dolly empty can be fun on the way out. Take an extra tire and wheel if you have one. -- Russ Wolfe '71 FB AT '66 FB MT '64 T34 (not running) '65 T1 (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
