If that doesn't make the starter run then the switch is inadequate, their is 
something wrong with the wiring, or there is a problem with the starter.

The coil is on the unfused side. You may have a loose connection somewhere, 
such that when you draw some extra current the voltage drop is too much to 
allow things to continue to work. Check all the wire connections at the fuse 
box and the voltage regulator.

Don't waste your time polishing connectors. The only parts of the connectors 
that matter are the parts that you can't see when they are connected; if they 
are tight, they will still be good regardless of their appearance.
