[T3] Torsion bar setting

Matt and I are re-assembling the rear end. We want to lower this 
notch slightly and I was wondering what unloaded spring plate 
trailing arm angle you use. We have the factory setting - but was is 
the preferred angle for a lowered notch? Also, if you do not have the 
VW tool, what is the preferred way to load the spring plate/torsion 
bar so that it cann all be bolted back in place?
