Are you sure that this is what the "Basic Compact" was? I've seen that term, but I've never been sure what it meant. My '71 manual doesn't mention it, so I dug for a '73 manual and there it was, but it's a stripped down fastback. There may be other differences, but from what I glean, the US market "Basic Compact" was the same as our regular fasty except that it lacked the following items: Clock Rear window defogger Glove compartment lock the illustration looks like it also lacks the beltline trim In 35 years, I've only ever seen one of these, and I only remember the missing clock. Funny, I thought I remembered it as a '71. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
