The auto choke is necessary, especially in colder climates. you simply need it adjusted properly. Brian showed me how to do mine and Im sure a carb expert will speak up and give the proper info on it here. If you can start the car cold, without the choke, and it stays running without touching the gas, its running too rich. This is bad.
