I thought acetic acid would be similar to phosphoric acid which is what is in all those rust eaters. Stuff like naval jelly.... I think acetic acid and vinegar are the same, aren't they? -Kevin -----Original Message----- From: Jim Adney [mailto:jadney@vwtype3.org] it. I've always heard that the acetic acid curing RTV is strictly not recommended for applications to any kind of metal, because the acid will attack the metal. The acetic acid type is the most common style. Acetic acid has a very distinctive smell, so this stuff is easy to identify. The alternative is the methanol style which is generally sold for electronic use, where it won't attack circuit boards. I think it is very hard to find unless you're a commercial user, and very expensive when you do find it. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
