Re: [T3] Engine Blow (was Vallejo Show)
<x-flowed>I used to work for a shop that "built" engines for engine blows. We
would save junk parts specifically for these.
The typical engine had a bad case, well used bearings, cracked heads, or
at least bad valve guides and worn seats. I would sometimes cut the rods
a bit if the promoter wanted to really put on a show (rods flying threw
the case) I think that's why the engine is inside a cage....
I'd put the pistons in backwards, hand tighten the rod bolts, you name
it. Anything to make a show out of it.
This was when it was an engine BLOW and people wanted to see things come
apart, not the boring engine seize that happens nowadays.
This one a Vallejo was the closest I've seen to an old school "Blow" in
a long time, now I think the builders are trying to prove that they can
build a durable engine.
Hell, that's no fun!!
We'd coat the inside with the latest "Duralube" product and call it
good, no oil.
We never ran cooling tin either. Not even the deflectors under the
cylinders.
Just a 009, fuel pump block off, a plug in the oil sensor hole, header /
stinger and a big set of carbs.
