That would be really weird. The cold start valve's function is very different from the function of a choke.

You know when you give the gas pedal a push or two before you start a carbed car, especially when it's cold? In addition to setting the choke & fast idle cam, this squirts some extra gas into the intake via the accelerator pump.

Well, in the f.i. car, the cold start valve can only work when the starter is turning over -- AND when it's cold out. As soon as the starter quits working, the cold start valve is all done. (It's wired on the + side off of the starter, and on the - side it's grounded via a temperature switch.) The choke, on the other hand, continues to operate while the cold car is warming up.
