RE: [T3] fresh air motor and some spring cleaning

Cool, thanks for the ideas! Mine has never been cleaned since I got the car
from the PO, I just never used the fresh air vents because if I even opened
them all kinds of junk would spew out. I'm to the point where I'm sick of
not using it and I want to get all the crap out.

I can run the fan and that does a pretty good job of clearing stuff out of
there, however, it really makes my interior a mess...

I'll try some of these ideas. Would flushing it with water from above be a
good/bad idea? Most of the crap in mine seems to be small things that have
built up over the years and I'm starting to think if I pour water down the
intakes, and keep the drain hose clear, it should flush out, is this going
to hurt anything? Will it work?

Thanks,

Jacob

There is tool made for cleaning out sink drains
call a Zip-It. It's a long piece of plastic with
teeth on it. You push it down a drain and pull
it back out. The teeth catch hair of other gunk
and the stuff comes out. It's about $3 at most
home and plumbing stores. It's about 18 inches
long and should reach these spaces.

This is a great tool for cleaning out leaves and
other gunk in fresh air boxes.

There is a free alternative, however it's metal
and could scratch metal or cut rubber. On the
edge of wax paper boxes is a metal toothed piece
of aluminum for cutting the wax paper. Remove it
from the box, and you have a tool.

There's no easy way. you can clean out some of the stuff with long tweezers
or
chopsticks thru the louvers in front of the windshield. You should pull out
the
long drain hose and clean it out; you can actually also remove the short
hose
and clean it out, too. And you can get a wire into the airbox from there and
sweep out some stuff once the short hose is removed.
