Okay, but the Bentley says 72-3, and the parts list shows the late VM starting with VIN 312 2 000 001. This is consistent with what I've always believed, but I suspect that belief just came from the Bentley, so that's kind of circular. My guess is that the VW material you have got the model year mixed up with the calendar year (late VM started with the '72 MY cars, in august of '71.) At any rate, if he has a VW VM on there, the part number will be stamped in the old VM around the end where the vacuum hose connects. Just look for the last letter: early is A, late is C (for FI cars.) BTW, Russ, is your computer clock off or something? All your posts lately have been coming thru with time stamps ahead of the posts they are responding to. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
