[T3] Oil forced out of breather, and factory manuals

A couple of posts over the past year were about oil leaking from the breather.
Today at the Stanford Hall VW meeting in England, I got a pack of VW Workshop
bulletins, and happened to notice that one says this can happen if the rocker
cover gasket slips at the top of the rocker cover, allowing air into the space
which can then pressurise the crankcase (I guess it would heat up and expand)
and drive oil out through the breather.

I wonder if this might have been the cause. I guess the later vented rocker
covers prevent this problem by being connected to the air intake and stopping a
pressure difference developing.

Incidentally, the guy also had an Australian Type 3 parts book, which is the
normal part numbers we know plus the Australian ones where they fitted their own
parts. There was also the 1965 Type 3 Workshop Manual Vol 1 and 2 with updates
to about '69, and the '61 Type 3 Parts Book too (hardly used - very nice
condition). He also had various of the collected manuals for the separate
systems, including two copies of the K Fuel System that Russe just got, a couple
of V (running gear?), one E (electrical) and H (?).

He was looking for something like £70 each ($100 US ?) for the Type 3 books and
about £20 ($30) for the system ones.

If anyone is seriously interested in any of these, I could put you in touch or
do a bit of negotiation on your behalf.

Dave.
