Re: rear window defroster


OK... here is the solution to the rear window defroster issue.

Its takes some finesse and ingenuity but....

Get a kit with the thinnest lines you can find, remove the window and
rubber,  lay the lines one by one OVER the defunct old ones... they will be
wider but not too obtrusive.  paste them all the way to the edge of the
window and leave 1/8" hangin off.  Then solder a thin uninsulated wire, 24
gauge or so connecting the traces all togeather on each end... this takes
some care as the traces are fragile.  then wrap this wire to the edge of the
glass and RTV the whole thing in place with a thin layer of RTV that will be
hidden by the window seal.  Carefully solder a spade connector to the end of
each side and install the window and rubber (CAREFULLY) once the RTV as
cured.  You may need to use a dropping resistor as the resistance may now be
too low... you want the traces barely warm to the touch.
