Just to comment on the subject, I live in California and cringe when I see the ads for california body parts. Yes we have rust here. After 35 years a car can rust to nothing. In the mountains road salt is used and on the coast, salt air. I went with a friend to San Fransico to check out a bus he was thinking of buying. The neighborhood was near the ocean and very damp. As we walked down the street I noticed that almost all of the parked cars had rust bubbles coming through the paint. Some had large rust holes in the body work. Needless to say the bus was rusty. He bought it anyway and used it for a daily driver. My squareback has extensive rust In the rear deck area over the engine. I have a replacement piece cut out of a donor car but have yet to work up the courage to cut the piece out of my car and weld the new one in.
