D'oh! No, I left it in. Bentley doesn't say otherwise & I have no manual for the tester. Since test Stage 17 (trigger contacts) is done w/the engine idling, I assumed all the tests were done w/the brain in. Well, we all know what happens when you assume...;-)

Guess what? Everything checked out O.K. when I retested w/the brain removed. Interesting that almost all the tests can be done w/the brain connected. It is way too late at night to try & start it up, though. That will have to wait 'till tomorrow. 

Speaking of test stages in the Bentley...in my copy, (a moldy oldie w/color schematics) There is a Stage 17 & a Stage 19, but no 18. Is 18 just mislabeled as 19? (this is a test only applicable to '68 & '69 cars) or is there actually a missing test stage?
