If that has come loose at one side, usually the left side) then those parts will no longer be well secured. The best way to check this is to grab the top of one front tire and yank it from side to side. If there is play there, get a friend to do the same thing while you watch where the upper swing arm on that same side comes out of the axle beam. If you can see it move more than 1mm you have a problem there. 3) The steering damper could be shot. You can test this by unbolting one end and seeing if there is any friction when you pump it back and forth. There should be. There is also a bushing in the steering arm where the damper anchors; this bushing is almost always shot by now. 4) It's also possible that the ball joints were damaged by the lowering. This is unlikely if the lowering was modest, but almost certain if the lowering was severe. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
