I used the reinforcement discs that came with the generic old-school seat-belt kit I bought. These are steel, about 2" in diameter and maybe 1/8" thick. I had to grind off a bit of one edge to fit them in the channel. => what about attachment to the center channel? The stock early belts were diagonal shoulder-only. Pull up your carpet and you'll find threaded holes in the tunnel, too. The thread pitch is standardized.
