It probably broke thru the pedal hub, right thru the pin holes in each side. I'm pretty sure the pin can be driven out. If you can find a good machine shop which can take it apart and weld it and then ream the hole to fit again (reaming might not be necessary) then this should be quick. Check the local yellow pages. It's probably best to weld it while apart so that the bronze bearing does not get heated. If you have it apart, slide the shaft out and polish it, then grease it well before you drive the pin back in. If you can't get the pin out, just put wet rags on the pedal cluster body while they weld it as quickly as possible to minimize the heat that gets in there. I guess I have to check the microfilm about early and late pedal clusters, because it's possible that I have an early one here. I'd be glad to send it to you, but I really think you can get this fixed where you are in much less time, and for less money. I get $25 for a good pedal cluster. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
