One of the things that Berg automatically does when he balances a type 3 engine is to weld the fan to the hub. He claims that they tend to get loose and lose the balance otherwise. I have had 2 different Berg engines done this way, and never had any problems with them. OTOH, I never had any reason to take them apart and inspect that key. I may be driving a third such engine to Hershey.
