RonB=> wondering about the cap ... how important it is On the 1600s and I believe the earlier motors as well, the cap is a dark grey plastic dome that snaps in. They are often missing these days, and I had a hard time finding mine. The cap may have a minor effect on intake airflow, but I think it's mainly there to keep the pulley bolt clean.
