Okay, I spend some time with mapquest, and here's what I recommend:

Tuesday, Aug 3:

I-90 travelers would travel to my place arriving that evening.

I-80 travelers would travel to Russ Wolfe's place at the same time.

I have some space for sleepers that night. I know that Russ has even more
space. Type 3 invaders are welcome at either place, but it would be best to let
us know first, just so neither of us is overwhelmed, and so you can get
    specific driving directions.

Wednesday, Aug 4:

We all set out to meet at La Salle, Illinois, or someplace similar along I-80
in central Illinois. La Salle is 260 miles/4 hours from Des Moines and
140miles/2.3 hours from Madison. We meet up at a place TBD and continue on to
South Bend, IN (165 miles/2.5 hours) where we spend the night.

Thursday, Aug 5:

We get up early and take in the Studebaker museum in South Bend, Indiana that
morning and the Auburn, Cord, Dusenburg museum further east in Auburn, Indiana
that afternoon. We'd then continue on to Toledo that evening and spend the
night. South Bend to Toledo is ~220 miles/3.5 hours, including side trips to
museums, but not including time actually spent IN the museums, which I would
    estimate at 2-3 hours each.

Friday, Aug 6:

We meet up with the drivers coming down from the Detroit area at a place TBD
and continue on to Hershey. Toledo to Hershey is 445 miles/ 7+ hours.

So far I have received exactly zero feedback on the museum trips, so if I'm the
only one interested in these, then I'll just proceed to Toledo alone.

Otherwise, I'm operating under the assumption that other people will show
interest when the time gets closer. These are truly classic cars that any auto
enthusiast would appreciate, and my impression is that each houses an
impressive array of cars and details about the cars.

I will make group rate inquiries if enough people show interest.
