My insurance company is USAA and they *require* you to notify them of *any* accident, I'd imagine in case someone comes back later and makes some kind of even bogus claim against you, they'll know what happened. I would imagine most insurance companies don't like surprises of this kind. Of course, I tend to err on the side of paranoia, so just my $.02. :) Sorry about the accident...
