Bizarre ; I wonder why not?

That number's not in my parts book. In any case, as far as I know, pre-68
Type 34s had a special steering column, post-68 had a completely standard
Type 3 one.

I now see that the parts book really does give an option (M248) for steering
column without steering lock for the Type 34. Here are the 68-69 part
numbers for the whole unit:

With:
Indicator switch with steering lock and ignition starter switch without lock
cylinder: 311 953 503Q

Without:
Indicator switch with ignition starter switch without lock cylinder (M248)
311 953 503AF

One more question: Inside the unit there is a bearing and soldered to the
bearing there is a ground wire. Does anyone know what this grounds?

Thanks,

Daniel
