Remove this plate for access to the shift coupler. There is an 8mm/9mm square head bolt with a safety wire. remove this bolt and unhook the shift coupler. If you are installing a trans from a Type 1, you will need the front shift rod from the T-3 to get the coupling to hook back up. the dimple for the set screw is on the bottom on a T-3 and on the top for a T-1. -- Russ Wolfe '71 FB AT '66 FB MT '65 T1 (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
