Hi all, One of the things that bothers me about my car is that the housing at the top of the steering column isn't original. It looks like ones I've seen in Beetles. My ignition switch is the wrong type too, and it doesn't quite fit properly into the housing. It all works, but it looks like a kludge. For this reason, when what looked to me like the correct type turned up on eBay recently I bought it. Today, I took it apart to change the indicator switch for a new one, and got a bit of a surprise. Here it is: http://www.type34.info/temp/mini-IM000104.JPG http://www.type34.info/temp/mini-IM000108.JPG And here is the surprise: the ignition switch doesn't have a steering column lock: http://www.type34.info/temp/mini-IM000107.JPG This lock, which I believe is the correct type for my car, doesn't fit into the housing: http://www.type34.info/temp/mini-IM000106.JPG Does anyone know what this column unit is for? Was there a 68-69 Type 3 without a steering column lock?
