And, if you attach a hose to the drain nipple
and lead it _up_ and over the tire, and then
into a container, the little bubble that likes
to stay attached to the nipple will head up and
away from the nipple as well. Any bubble that
manages to get into the hose/cylinder from the
loose fit at the base of the nipple will also
rise away from the cylinder.

With this set-up you can pump the brakes a
little and on the upstroke, you won't get
that bubble back into the cylinder. Hard
and fast pumping will pull it back in though,
so keep it slow and easy.

That's right. Pumping the pedal just speeds it up. All the component drillings
are arranged so that the chambers will fill and the bubbles will leave from the
top where the exit ports are.
