If you have some kind of exhaust emission measuring device you could measure 
your exhaust with the good PS and then adjust the tampered PS to match it.

As others have mentioned, you might be able to see it from the taillight hole, 
or I don't think it's really all that hard to remove a couple of bolts so that 
you can pull the bottom of the fender out a bit. You could also try one of 
those 3-finger "grabbers" and just see what you can find.

The glue approach will work, but that's a last resort.

If this is your AT, then set the idle to 950. You've got your timing set to 
TDC, right?
