Well last week coming home from Pomona my generator gave up its ghost. Upon closer inspection I found the oil wire, + wire to the coil were both a bit crispy. They ran just under the back of the gen. and up to their respective positions. At first I thought it might be the regulator because of the fried wires, but my volt meter told me the gen. was putting out nada. SO after pulling off the gen. I noticed that the hole underneath wasnt on the hole on the fan shroud. About 1/4 of it was being used. I am guessing that the gen. wasnt getting enough cool air and got so hot that the innards burnt up and was hot enough to melt the wires from the oil and +coil. Does this sound plausible? Has anyone had a generator burn up due to lack of enough cool air? If its true then I may have brain farted as I know better than not to align up the genny to get cool air! jason ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
