Interesting that the threshold would be right there. Be aware, however that the
breakdown voltage will go up as the corners of the spark plug electrodes get
rounded off; this is the main reason that plugs have to be changed.

I don't know if the absoulte threshold is right there, but it was certainly the
threshold with new W8AC plugs in a too-rich-running, too-high-compression (roughly
9.3:1) 1776cc T1 with bad valve guides and massive blowby past the rings. =)


FWIW, the plug gap for the W/C VW's with this ignition ranges from .024"-.035",
depending on year and engine code. I seem to remember reading that some of the
Mexican T1's used the same ignition system; I wonder what the gap is for those..
