Howdy all, Just joined the list to hopefully learn more about the '71 Type 3 that my mother has decided I will be maintaining and repairing for her. She bought it new in '71 so she is pretty attached to it. Anyhow the rear end is starting to sag pretty badly, and with the amount of use the vehicle has seen (300k + miles, several trips across N. America and Europe), I suggested that we replace the rear torsion bars rather than adjust them (I assumed they even could be adjusted). Anyhow I'm fairly mechanical, but my forte is 4x4 trucks and Yugos (of all things), so I was hoping for some pointers or other tips & tricks people could give me when doing this job. I searched back through the archive and didn't find anything specific to what I was going to be doing, though it was only a cursory search. Anyhow, thanks in advance for any assistance Radoje Spasojevic ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
