I finally decided to take the CPU back out of Wilson & make sure it was installed correctly, as that seemed to have been the source of a major leak in the wagon. I am quite sure I did not notice the little metal lips that go on the outside (correct?)... And I took some weather sealant to adhere the rubber to the metal edges as well... Seems to be holding nicely. We'll see when the rain starts again. I took the opportunity to finally hook up the VW1218 tester I bought a while ago & do an official test... Everything was good except for a couple things, both with the CPU (apparently). Anyone know if these are really problems with the CPU and where I'd look to fix them? Faults were detected in: 1) Engine speed correction - full load enrichment 2) Start & warm-up enrichment I think it's possible that #2 is because I disabled the cold-start system, but #1 I think possibly ties in with another problem I seem to have. When the car is very warm and I've been driving it a while, if I come to a stop & don't put the car in neutral, it skips, misses every second or two and acts as if it wants to stall. If I put in neutral, no problem. RPM raises a little and it's fine. I don't want to mess with the idle speed control because the car seems to run nicely most of the time... Any thoughts? The fuel pressure is the one thing I haven't checked yet... ===== ----------------------------------------- Have you driven your Type 3 today? http://www.tiserves.com/VW/ ----------------------------------------- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
