Just a couple of comments. There's no point in replacing the distributor. The FI one you have is better than the 009. If you still have to OE coil, don't replace it; it's better than the blue coil. If you still have the OE plug wires, save the end parts and only replace the WIRE. The dist end connectors are better than anything you can buy today. I think I'm correct in stating that once you convert this car to carbs you will no longer be able to get this car past Cal state inspections, so you have set a deadline on when this car will have to be scrapped or sold out of state. Those who live in Cal should chime in here and correct me. The FI is much cheaper to fix than to replace. In the long run it will give you much better service. Don't be afraid of it. There's lots of information here on how to get it working well; just post your problems and we'll try to help. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
