I believe the originals for '66 vintage are chromed.  They should be 
embossed "Hella SB12" in plain sight right on top.  I made a point to 
find an original one to replace a mangled one, even though it wasn't 
perfect.  I can vouch for 7 years outside in the rain w/o a sign of rust.
