Yes, check this out, as I ran into this last summer on my son's Roadster. We
were having a miss that couldn't be tuned out, so I remembered Jim or Russ
saying something about the spark plug connector having some sort of resistor in
them that likes to go out. Turned out we had 2 bad ends, and after swapping
them with some good ones (tested them with an ohm meter) we got the miss to
disappear.
A few months later however, some sludge moved from either the fuel tank or
the lines and plugged one of the carbs. I fixed the one by removing the carb,
and disassembled it, cleaned it again (I had just put some kits in them), and
reassembled it only to have the problem move to the other side. I repeated the
process for the right carb, and now everything is good to go. So if you decide
to clean the one carb, you might consider doing both, as sometimes (but not
always) the problem will move. This would also be a good time to replace your
fuel hoses if they've been on for over 2 years, as they might be flaking rubber
from the inside of the hose or the hose might be starting to crack. Just some
food for thought.
