I guess it's worth commenting that if the bumper is very creased there may still be some cracked chrome in the area of maximum distortion. If you're going to rechrome, it doesn't matter much how you flatten out the damage. Mine has a little cracking visible if you look closely, but it doesn't seem to have rusted significantly. Dave.
