I had to think about this for a few minutes, and Dave is correct, the last rearward clip in the outer scraper does indeed fit into that cover. There is also a 6mm screw (10mm head) at the lower part of the cover/door. There is a spring clip that does grab the glass run channel to the cover too, and it might be advisable to remove some of glass run channel from it's achor points, so one can slip that cover out. I know about this as I rebuilt a set of outer scrapers last summer for my dad's 73 Fastback (and 2 years before on my 65 Notch), and I've also removed that cover from my 71 Square doors after I cut the top of them off before capping them (made them into Roadster doors). When you go to reinstall it, you'll have to hook one end into the "S" hook, and the other end of the "S" hook attaches to the door itself , and part of the outer scraper. If you don't get that cover in the right place, the outer scraper won't fit correctly, and you might have trouble refitting both the glass run channel and the window itself. I hope this helps.
