Okay, you have an EARLY '72. ;-) Try reaching under the dash and feeling up around the E-switch to see if it has come apart. It consists of a metal box with one open side; the open side is covered by a plastic plate with all the connectors in it. Sometimes that plate comes loose from the box/body of the switch and this might be your problem. You could try pushing the plate back into the body and see if that helps. If it is loose at all, you'll probably have to take it out and either replace it or stake the plate back into position. This is a rather big job because of all the wires there, some of which have +12V on them ALL the time. It will probably make things easier if you remove the 2 screws that hold the fuse box and then just pull the fuse box down a bit to give better access to the inside of the dash. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Shameless link for search engines: http://listarchive.type3.org ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
