I'm very happy with the suspension performance on mine, and I haven't
resorted to anything as hopelessly unworkable as Chevy parts. The Type 3s
have a very well-designed suspension from the factory that provides
excellent sport performance with minor tweaking and careful tuning.

I think you'll find that if you give your stock front end a good going over,
tighten up what needs tightening, refresh joints if necessary, stiffen the
shocks a bit and grease it properly, it'll give you what you want. External
anti-sway bars are superfluous money-wasters on a Type 3, but Squareback
torsion bars all around will give a sportier feel. You may find that
unlowering it a notch or so will be very helpful to balance and
road-holding. In the rear add a high-quality camber compensator if you have
swing axles or a Squareback Z-bar if IRS. Put a little wider rubber (185s or
so, and *not* smaller tires in front) on alloy 914 wheels (forget the trick
wheels and adapters), then get the steering box adjusted right and have it
aligned carefully front and rear.

The difference in performance you can realize from these fairly basic
procedures and changes is enormous, and it's all easily done.
