I think the thoughts of those who have spoken out
about electronic ignition are exactly addressing your
point -- that if you're looking for reliability,
nothing beats points/condenser. Having no experience
with elec ignition, my impression from the list is
that when it's working, it provides optimum operation.
But when it stops working (and it *will* stop
working), you better be prepared to get out your
ignition kit.

Eh? Last I checked, most of us on the list are WAY
onboard with FI, while some others want to "do away"
with this great technology & go back to the dark days
of carbs! :) (ducks and covers)

99% of the people at those shows would probably tell
you to ditch the FI for carbs if you had the slightest
bit of trouble with them as well. I think there are
probably a lot of things that "most people" do that
aren't necessarily the best things for these cars,
don't you think? :)
