I discovered how much better it runs when you drive them regularly and usually drive it at least once a week. In this case I'm sure it had not been sitting very long, but I don't remember specifically. I'll try your suggestion to see if I can get it to leak. Because of my limited electrical knowledge, you had better give me a more detailed description of shorting across the fuel pump relay. I don't want to fry something.
