The clutch job price probably includes disk, pressure plate, and throwout bearing, as well as several hours of labor. The brake job probably includes two substandard new brake calipers with pads and the installation. You would be much better off letting me rebuild your calipers. This would cost you as much as new calipers would, but you would end up with the right parts. Overall, if you installed them yourself, you'd save money. > The car is a 1971 Fastback with 81K unmolested > original miles. We are talking a totally stock car > here. Careful of what you replace. The OE dist ends on your spark plug wires are very hard to replace, but you can use your old ones. DON'T just install new ones, and DON'T throw away your old ones. I generally just replace the actual WIRE. As for points, rotor, capacitor, and cap, the only one of these that requires routine replacement are the ignition points (not the FI points, those last forever.) > Can I just replace the Clutch itself, i.e. the spring > pad, or do I need to replace the cover and bolts as > well? Everything else is probably still fine unless you have been letting it slip while driving. In fact, with these few miles, I'd bet that the clutch is fine, but that the pedal has no free play. If you haven't destroyed it by slipping it, then you should be able to just adjust the free play and move on. If you take the clutch apart, you'll need an alignment tool to put it back together. > What else should I replace while the engine is out?
