I couldn't see any sign of a serious leak this time. Just a few drops where the car "marked its territory". The car went really well again, the only problem being a horrible, ear-piercing, intermittent howl coming from the speedo. I'll mess with it as much as I can, but if I can't fix it I'll take it to a pro. I don't want to break it. The drops that leaked were definitely black; when I reached home I immediately put the white board back under the car. I don't know why it seemed to leak so much before; could my "molten crud falling off" theory be correct? It is still burning off loads of stuck on oil, BTW. One other thing; I noticed what I think was probably a potential disaster. My fuel filter was resting on the oil cooler. I hadn't realised quite how hot it got. I clipped it out of the way, so it isn't touching any more, but I think I should really replace one of the fuel lines with a longer one to get it as far away as possible. > > How'd you sleep last night? Too excited? > Well, I slept OK, but it is pretty exciting. I've now driven the car almost 250km in three days. One "exciting" thing is how vulnerable driving this car makes me feel on a busy freeway. Today in Tel Aviv it was very intimidating how the cars in the other four lanes (it's ten lanes wide, altogether) were just wafting past. I'm not used to driving with the windows open, and it makes me feel a little too close to nature. I also haven't yet sorted out proper seat belts, which is at the top of my list of priorities.
