Your overflow hose is probably broken. New ones are NLA, but you can fix this
with a length of hose. It's important to fix this because dirt and water will
continue to be thrown in there by the wheel, especially when the pavement is
wet. This can ruin the FI system, and carbs don't much care for it either.

If that was stamped into the metal of the transmission body, then that is
probably just the MT serial number. I don't know what it means. VW didn't
really keep track of them as far as I can tell. They're not mentioned in the
microfilm. There may have been a DC in front of it, which signifies the series
of the transmission; DC was the type 3 IRS MT.
