Re: [T3] Questions about engine size and improving torque

hi
in a pancake engine if you have the choice and you have the engine apart
strokeing is the only way to go as more bore will produce more heat plus if
you stroke it on a full rebuild now later if you decide you want to you can
easily add more bore without a complete tear down .

more stroke does mean more torque as piston speed is increased so is valve
port velocity this will give you more torque the strokes on vw,s watercooled
cars compared to the bores is quite big and they make torque aplenty.

stroke first bore later if you have the cash.

the reasons people put on a big bore are simple ease cost time .

strokeing will not raise the compresion ratio on an engine as much as
putting a bigger bore on will if you stick with the same size chamber volume
in the head is a point to think about.
