[T3] 6V to 12V Question
<x-flowed>OK, I have started upgrading Sophy's electrical system from 6V to 12V
and I have come across something I am not sure of. I am using parts
from Jane ('71 Fasty) for the conversion. On the wiring diagram for
the 71 Type 3 there is a brown wire from the generator (D-) to the
Voltage Regulator (D-). This wire doesn't exist in Sophy's 1966 wiring
harness.
Do I need to run a new wire? Is it just a ground for the generator?
Can I just run a wire from the generator to the ground strap near the
rear engine hanger/handle? Just ignore it? Not really sure about this
one.
Also, I will be in need of two 12V carb cut-off jets and two 12V choke
elements. Anyone have these for sale?
I will also have all of the various 6V electrical stuff available for
sale once the conversion is done. This will include:
Generator (2)
Voltage Regulator (2)
Battery
Coil
Lots of bulbs
A working clock
A working fuel gage element (i am keeping the gage case and face and
just upgrading the fuel gage element)
Sapphire III AM Radio
2 Carb Cut-off Jets
2 Carb Choke Elements
All of it is in good working condition. The generator from Sophy even
has new sealed bearings that I installed when I rebuilt it. Let me
know if you are interested and we can work out a deal.
Later,
John Jaranson
'66 Square (Sophy - getting a little DARKER by getting brighter lights)
'71 Fasty (Jane - darkside project in waiting)
various parts.....don't we all.
