Yaaaahooooo! Took possession of the '66 this morning. I actually drove it home (about 5 miles). Beautiful sunny day today. I had the biggest grin... I'm hoping to take more pics of the car today. It is going to rain in the next couple days. This car has some interesting items on it. Can't wait to get it's birth certificate. (Yes, yes, I'll take pics) And it came with a spare, complete front beam! What a bonus, eh? Kinda funny, I spoke with the guy, and he asked me if I was going to restore it. I told him I'll try and preserve it. I said, Maybe someday I'll do a restoration, when I have enough money. He told me he was glad that an enthusiast bought the car. Just before putting the car up for sale, some guy stopped by and asked if it was for sale. The previous owner said yes, and the guy said he's looking for a car to turn into a V8 powered drag racer. So, needless to say, he was happy that I bought the car. I tend to run with the Dark Side, but I wouldn't think of doing something to this car that is irreversible. I must be getting old (36 TY), the original cars are appealing. One of the things that I noticed today is the wheels. 3 are almost a chocolate brown, and the right rear is black. I really like the brown color. I've never seen brown wheels on a Type 3. -- Phillip Bradfield Member: southern oregon vw club: http://www.sovw.com rose city volksters: http://www.rosecityvolksters.com ddb: http://www.theddb.com 1969 Variant - Savanna beige, with 67 euro fenders, Type 4 2.1l (someday...), speedster soon to have a bus dash 1968 Variant - Granada red (under gray primer), 1835 with dual 40 Dellortos, soon to be full automatic! *new* 1966 Variant - Pearl white - All stock, Pigalle interior, 1600 with dual Solex carburetors 1963 1500 - Ruby red (and rust), 1600 with dual Solex carburetors 19??
