[T3] General manifold sealing question

OK so I don't break the rules let's make this a general question...  How do
I attach my carb to manifold and manifold to the block with no vacuum leaks?
Obviously use new gaskets but should I use any sort of sealing compound?
How tight do I twist on those bolts?

(This is for my bus but the principal should be the same...)
