Just look at the wire and ask yourself whether it is close enough to something that it could have grounded out against it. I'd rather see you neatly wrap some electrical tape over the chewed insulation than try to replace a section. If you did a splice you'd still need to insulate the splice, AND you would need to do a good crimp and solder on the right kind of terminal, so there are several places where this could go wrong. > Anyway, is this most likely my problem? Not necessarily. Your car is later, I believe, and shouldn't have as much trouble with the sharp bend at the head sensor.
