I would only suggest cutting it in the case it is
unusable and you have sourced a replacement.

I agree 100%, and armor all will also make the seal
crack and with some aftermarket rubbers it may not be
a good source of protectant let alone lubricant at
all. I've just found it easy to just grab and spray,
although i have used both.
