Welcome to the list, Mike. That should be a nice car if you can get 
it fixed up.

A lot depends on what the problem actually is. It may just be that 
the head studs have pulled out of the case. If this is true, the case 
can be salvaged by installing "case savers" which are steel 
threaded inserts which make this weak spot in the case design 
more than strong enough. In fact, every rebuilt engine should have 
case savers installed.

I recommend that you buy the Bentley manual for most of what you 
need and the Haynes to cover the early 6V electric and the carbs. 
If you're not sure which ones these are I can send you the specifics 
once I get home tomorrow night.
